Alliumsativum, commonly known as garlic is one of the ancient medicinalherbs and most heavily studied herbs over the past several decades and the reportis mostly good. Garlic holds a uniqueactive substance which contributes to wide range of pharmacological effect includinganti hyperlipidemic effect (Majewski,2014). There is evidence that hypolipidemic influences of garlic showssignificantly reduce serum and hepatic total cholesterol, triglyceride, andlow-density lipoprotein levels and increase serum high-density lipoproteinlevels (Niaz et al, 2016; Uday Singh etal 2015).Cow ghee orclarified butter from milk solid could be consumed as food and as medicine.
Itcontains high energy, essential fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins (Ganguli and Jain 1973). Cow ghee is a traditionalmedicine in Ayurveda and which are practiced for thousands of years, apart fromits role in the daily use of culinary purposes and traditional religious rituals.Cow’s ghee holds numerous medicinal properties which are described in traditionaltexts. Karandikar et al 2016; Shukla andTripathi 2006; Murthy Srikantha et al 1998). Despite this fact, gheecontains higher amount saturated fatty acids which causes cardiovascular riskswere reported. Evidence on the health effects of ghee and garlic are individuallyreported by Indian system of medicine, which discusses the possible benefits.
However,there is no scientific data has been made in regard to the hypolidemic ofgarlic and its combination with ghee. These spurt interest to develop a dietaryintervention of Garlic infused ghee to explore their synergistic therapeutic effectsin rodent model.
