Introduction AlthoughBentonville High School is consistently rated as one of the top three highschools in the state, Bentonville still faces some of the same diversity obstaclesthat many other public schools in the state of Arkansas face. One of thechallenges faced by Bentonville High School is the assurance that all studentsare given the same educational opportunities no matter their race, color, creed, religion, age, sex, handicap,national origin, or ancestry. As our mission statement says, BentonvilleSchools is committedto excellence in all we do through innovative, inspiring learning experiences.In order to have truly inspiring learning experiences, you must have a diverselearning community in all aspects of student learning.

In order to have a diverselearning community in all aspects of student learning, the entire student bodyand faculty must be committed are involved in creating an environment conduciveto the success of all students regardless of background.  PurposeBentonvilleSchool Districts mission statement says that its primary mission is to provide excellence in all we do throughinnovative, inspiring learning experiences. In order to reach this goal,administration must be committed to recruiting and hiring a diverse faculty,faculty must be committed to stimulating, supporting, and encouraging a diversestudent population, and that student population must be committed to fosteringa culturally respectful community. The purpose of this plan is toprovide Bentonville High School with a pathway to assist achieving cultural diversitythat will ultimately lead to the achievement of or mission of providinginspiring learning experiences. Define DiversityAlthough the termdiversity in the community is easily understood, it is important that for thepurpose of this diversity plan we define diversity specifically for BentonvilleHigh School.
