He was deported from USSR, his home and sendto Vienna. And after that Marina andJoseph never met.
He suffered lot and requested the government to stay in his countryand write poems but government insisted on his leaving the country. Why he wasdeported?His work wasliked and appreciated around the world except Soviet Union. The governmentargued that his work was against their nation; his writing did not support the Russianprinciples. By the helpof some of the fellow poets, he was in United States.
He started teaching in universitiesof Yale, Cambridge, and the University of Michigan. In 1991, Brodsky became theUnited States Poet Laureate.
