I am applying for a computer science course. I started to really look into it by researching it online; I found that it required a good amount of knowledge of software. Consequently, I have become enthusiastic and my decision to study for a degree in computer science has been greatly strengthened.

This is one of the many reasons for why I have decided that I wanted to pursue a degree level course in computer science. By doing this course, I intend to gain confidence and improve my academic skills. My current course which I am studying has made me more committed to studing a degree in computer science as many of the units give me a valuable experience in what computer science will be like. I was able to learn and improve my skills, teaching myself.

It which opened my mind to how computers really work. I decided then to move on and learn further. I have enjoyed learning about event driven programming where I was able to learn how to write programs such as calculators, taxi service applications and calendars where the use of databases were was necessary.

I have also enjoyed website production where I was able to learn about the server side and client side that influenced the performance of a website and got around to actually creating a website which I enjoyed as it required coding and enhanced my independent learning skills as I was able to fix any errors which I had come across and had taught myself how to correct them. I have always had the ambition to do something related to IT. Computer Science is the only degree that matches my interests, whether it be programming or database systems.

I have the desire to learn more and improve my knowledge, learning new things in IT is a passion of mine, I would do anything to increase my knowledge of it, as the industry continues to develop, which fascinates me more. I have always enjoyed keeping up-to-date with the latest advances in technology and have remained astonished at the speed of computerised developments over the past few years. My interests grew incredibly stronger when I connected my computer to the internet several years ago – I discovered another interesting world for me to explore. Since then I have experimented with web design using HTML coding alongside web design packages. The data communications information systems and experiences in computing have since further persuaded me that I would particularly enjoy studying Computer Science at a degree level.I had previously done some work experience in the digital design side of computing, where I worked at Kodak for a while as I wanted to explore not only the technical side but also the design side to the industry, I had learnt a lot and gained substantial amount of knowledge of the media side which also gave me a valuable experience, which opened my mind to different sectors within the media side. However I feel that I am more interested within the software development side of things.

I have also done work experience at Hounslow Homes where I was required to take down information which residents told me to enter it into the system and make sure that the information is sent to the right department. I enjoy travelling, visiting new places and meeting people. I am really looking forward to the challenges that University life will bring me and I would welcome the opportunity to concentrate on the subject I am passionate about. I am also fully aware of its demands and challenges, but I am sure that my enthusiasm, maturity and strong determination will make me a successful student
