Many states, especially in the South still experience a great deal of racism; the worst state being Mississippi. Some say racism does not exist anymore or that it never did.

I strongly disagree. I argue that racism is still a huge part of our daily lives wherever we go. There is always going to be people turning their heads to things that don’t seem normal to them. In the following, I will explain the article “Global Issues” on racism. I will provide an example of how an African-American person dating a white person is not seen as “normal” in certain states rather than in others because people are raised to be racist. Finally, I will argue that there are advantages to being strong and advocating for ourselves for doing what we believe in and not doing things to make others happy.  Over the past half of a century suicide rates due to racism has increased by 30%.

Some due to the fact that they were in prison and what went on inside was too much for them to handle leading them to end their lives. Some were bullied, tortured, put down or had such bad depression to where they decided they did not serve a purpose on Earth anymore and so they ended their lives. There are four types of racism that occur everyday around the world; Scientific Racism, Institutionalized Racism, Cultural Racism and Individualized Racism. Racism does not have to be a part of everyday living. It does not matter what color skin one has or where they are from. If a man if tall and African-American, it does not automatically mean that he plays basketball or runs track and field. This is where I argue that racism needs to stop. We need to stop looking at African-American people differently than how we look at ourselves.

How would we feel if we were bullied everyday because of the color of our skin? By helping stop racism, we can save thousands of innocent lives each year and save their families the pain of losing a loved one.  Why is racism still such a huge issue today? I say it is because of how society wants us to be and act. How we are supposed to come across to fit into our culture. We all expect each other to be quite the same and to expect the same things when in reality we need to be more open-minded and open-hearted. I argue that if we can all come together to stop White Supremacies and the KKK the world would be a better place all the way around.  A recent study came out reporting that black men are eleven times more likely to commit suicide than a black women.

Black children from the ages of five to eleven are more likely to end their lives as well. Many people think that people commit suicide or attempt suicide for attention but that is not the case. I argue that people attempt suicide or commit it because of racism, depression, bullying, among other reasons. Title VII is a law that denies an employer the ability to be discriminatory against a race or ethnicity. This law was put in to place to help those affected by discrimination and help put a stop to it. No one can be denied the right to work where they want.

it isn’t the clothes on your back, how you talk, how you live, or the color of your skin. We are all the same in some way that does not have to revolve around racist people being insecure about themselves and needing a reason to hurt others to make themselves feel better. Coming together as one big community would be beneficial for all because it would make us feel like we are one and competing against each other is not necessary. I argued that racism is still a huge part of our daily lives and I am sticking to that.
