The invasion is also known as the Seven Year War, or the Imjin War.The official name of Yi’s title was Naval Commander of the Three Provinces ashe was in charge of navies for Provinces of Chungcheong, Jeolla and Gyeongsang.He is known for his exceptional leadership and naval strategies which resultedin victories in all his twenty three battles all against the Japanese. Althoughhe was arrested and relegated for a while, he was soon restored to leadJoseon’s Navy till the last battle. Yi died from a gunshot wound during the Battle of Noryang on 16 December 1598.
