Realism
This was the new style of literature that focused on the daily lives and adventures of a common person. This style was a response to Romanticism’s supernaturalism and over-emphasis on emotion.

Regionalism
Literature that emphasizes a specific geographic setting and that reproduces the speech, behavior, and attitudes of the people who live in that region.

Naturalism
a literary movement that was an extension of realism and that claimed to portray life exactly as it was.
