Show hidden master (1939)The first virtual reality device in history was the “View-Master” device that was produced in 1939. The videos or movies placed inside the device could be watched by the light inside the machine.
Sensorama (1962)There were 5 short films covering the senses of sight, hearing, touch and smell with the sensor machine. Designed by Morton Heilig in 1962, Sensorama’s virtual reality device had to remove the Morton Heilig project because it could not find any financial support at the time. But by designing and using this device, he took the first step in virtual reality technology.
It is said that this device is still working. The Sword of Damocles (1968)In 1968, American computer engineer Ivan Sutherland and student Bob Sproull made the Damokles Key an important factor in the development of helmet-like images used today. Back then, this helmet was used to hang the pegs for weight. At that time, the helmet used was considered to be the most similar VR to the new generation VRs despite being primitive.
Super Cockpit (1986)This virtual reality head-set has been developed in civic use rather than military virtual reality head-set. One of my first studies was a super cockpit developed at Wright Patterson Air Base in USA. Dr works for the US Air Force. The “Super Cockpit” program developed by Furness was used for flight training with three-dimensional pilot images. Flight simulators, one of the earliest examples of virtual reality exercises, enable pilot candidates at training stages to experience flight experience in a mobile pilot cab built and controlled via a computer.SEGA VR (1993):Sega company decided to use the concept of “Virtual Reality”, which is very popular at the beginning of 90’s, as an extension for Creation. In 1991 Sega announced the name of Sega VR. This product carried LCD monitors, stereo speakers and sensors that sensed head movements.
This system, which will be used in games played on the first person’s camera, will guide the character by perceiving the user’s head movements. The device was introduced with 4 games at the 1993 fair. Due to the side effects of the device, the Sega device went on the market. Several prototype models of the device are still available.Nintendo Virtual Boy (1995):July 21, 1995 The Virtual Child was put on the market by Nintendo. Nintendo-driven Virtual Boy is the first portable gaming console to provide three-dimensional images. The console sold for $ 179.95 and sold a total of 700,000 units and was a major disappointment.
