The genre of this story isFantasy. It is set in a fictional supernatural world and it involves such as, magicand mythological figures, for example the titular hobbit, wizards, elves, dwarfs, goblins, and a dragon that they meet on a journey in a landscape. Thiskind of fantasy genre novel seems more for children than adults, but of courseadults would enjoy reading it if they really liked fantasy. When I read the book,I knew that the story is very old, although the year is marked by the months ofthe Julian calendar.
The main character in TheHobbit book, is a young person on the cusp of adulthood and through theiradventures, they learn to become independent adults and understand how theworld works, and he lives in a hole in the ground. The mission was to help the dwarfs to recovertheir home from an evil dragon called Smaug. The Hobbit was chosen by Gandalfthe wizard, because Gandalf believed Bilbo was the right one for that mission.
There is magic in this novel asI mentioned before, and specifically, it is magical power but not much like goodpower. There is nothing included about religion or worshiping as for example a ChristianGod, or any God at all. But The Hobbit that there are good and evil, and it wasidentical that it is simply as human virtues and sins. The use of magic is in pretty fewdifferent stages. For example, in the beginning Gandalf places a secret mark onBilbos’ door that make the dwarves to meet at the hobbit hole. And Gandalf useda magic wand sometimes, and he could appear and disappears when he wanted.
