When I was 7 years my grandfather passed away and left me something that changed my life: a vintage car.
Some of my best childhood days were spent cleaning and servicing that masterpiece. Since then, I have always been fascinated towards automobile and mechanics. As I began my college career I decided to pursue mechanical engineering. I decided on mechanical engineering due to many factors.
The primary reason was because of course diversity and vast applications. First two years in my major has given me ample exposure in core subjects like Mathematics, kinematics, Thermodynamics, Engineering graphics and many more. I have always strived for excellence and this has helped me to maintain a rank among top 2% of my batch. In addition, I indulged myself in lab works and in learning computer aided mechanical programs such as auto-cad and MATLAB.The University of Illinois stands for much more than the temple of academic erudition; it represents a school that aims to nurture a certain pedigree of students that share a unity of purpose in changing the world for the better. It will create a platform for me to enhance my leadership and managerial skills. From numerous and extensive workshops to professional leaders in research like Professor Gaurav Bahl, there are prospects that will allow me to achieve my research goals at UIUC that would be otherwise unavailable. Students studying at UIUC also have access to range of internships and online courses.
That is something that fascinates me greatly as I believe that it will add an entirely fresh and exciting dimension to my college experience. With the opportunity of learning from teachers that are forerunners in their branches of study, a student- teacher ratio of 20:1, a stunning campus and innumerable clubs to participate in, I am certain that the university will provide me with plenty of opportunities to discover and express myself. Taking all these factors into consideration, I believe that University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign fits into my criteria of a university that can help me in becoming successful both academically and as a person that works towards the continuous development of himself and those around him.
