Women are an importantpart of our society.
Every woman in modern society has her own job or duty inthis to do and we can´t forget that woman´s life is a lot more complicated thana man´s life. A woman takes care of her own and sometimes her partner’s lifeand if she is a mom, she would also take care of her children´s life too. Inhistory the equality line has been moved all around the place and we arecurrently tiptoeing up to the spot of true equality for women. What trueequality really is? It’s when men and women are getting rewarded for theirwork, and are being treated the same as one another for the simple fact of thembeing human not because they are being labelled as a man or a woman. Womenshould not try to pass the line of equality and even though there are extremesituations of off-balance in society, there are cases were women are actuallyat an equal level with men.
Menwho prefer not to get their hands dirty, leaving the less desirable jobs forwomen whom may not be capable of handling such a heavy load are taking manyfemale positions. It is very hard for a parent that is divorced and trying toraise the family and takes on a tiresome job too. Strange as it may seem, the woman’srole have not changed much in today’s society. Women still have limitedopportunities in the business world and their role in the family as ahousekeeper is unchanged. Moreover, being a woman, I have learned the act ofmultitasking and handing many issues at a time as a result of facing challengesof the society. However, society still thinks of women as housewives and men asheads of the family. I will focus on many problems that women face in thesociety.
Being an Indian woman I could understand that it is not easy tofulfill your goals. It is especially challenging when a person comes from aconservative family, because the society limits a woman’s ability byclassifying them as housewives. For instance, I wanted to go to California andattend the California University. But I couldn’t go because my parents weremore concern about what might Indian society think about this idea. Moreover, they were then concern that I could get hurt and my personality might change. However, I feel that they just have a mindset that an Indian woman has tofollow their tradition culture and act the way society want them to. Therefore, they did not allow me to go California for my education.
Men who have achievedgreat importance in industry, government, sports, and the media have become awell-known sight. However, women are still not encourage or admitted so easilyin these field. Women are still overpowered by men and have fewer opportunitiesin many fields. I think that we should not be a category because the role ofwomen in society should be equal to a man’s role. Even though it will be reallyhard to reach complete equality between men and women I still believe that weshould try. Men will sometimes get paidmore than women; but this is nothing to complain about if the man works butalso I believe that a woman should get paid just as much as that man for doingthe same work. This means that men and women should receive equal treatment notwomen getting away with stuff easier than men and not men getting more respect.Overall, the rights and status of women have improved considerably in the last century however;gender equality has recently been threatened within the last decade.
Blatantlysexist laws and practices are slowly being eliminated while social perceptionsof “women’s roles” continue to stagnate and even degrade back totraditional ideals. These are the social perceptions that challenge theevolution of women as equal on all levels. Sexism will continue to existthroughout economic, professional, legal and educational arenas. Women who allowssexism and follow what society or men expect them to play the roles of the pastmay never recognize sexism as an oppressive force in their life. Today’ssociety expects women to fulfill certain roles. Those roles completelydisregarded the needs of education and motivated business and scientific women.
The culture in America is saturated by the media. The media is very harmful towomen because it gives negative views of women and reinforces them on a dailybasis. The role women play in today’s society is a drastic change from the rolethey use to play in the past. Women used to be confined to the superiority ofthe man. Emotionally mentally and physically abused, silenced, embarrassed, andbelittled.
These are just a few examples of the emotion from the isolatedtreatment of the past. A woman’s role in today’s society is more valued thanever before.
