They have been admired for their uniquestatesmanship, great vision and positive approach to all local and international affairs. Each one of themhas his unique approach to diplomacy, political skills and impact on foreignpolicy.       I.           Background We will look intotheir life, education and the pollical positions they held before and after becomingforeign ministers. Saud Al-Faisal was born in1940.

He was the son of king Faisal of Saudi Arabia. He was father to six children, three boys and three girls.He had received his BA degree in Economics from Princeton University USA, 1964.During his life, he was appointed as, Deputy Governor of Petromin, from 1970 to1971, Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources from 1971 to 1975 andMinister of Foreign Affairs from 1975 until 2015.During the last several years of his life, he faced serious health problemsincluding Parkinson’s Disease, and had had several spinal operations in the US.He died is 2015.

 Sabah A. Al-Sabah was born in 1929. He is the fourthson of Sheikh AhmadA. Al-Sabah.

Heis father to four children, three boys and one girl. He received his primary education certificatebetween 1930-1940 and then finished his education under private tutors. During his life, he was appointed as, the  Foreign Minister for 40 years, from 1963 to 2003, Prime Minister of Kuwait from 2003 to 2006. In 2006 becamethe Emir of Kuwait until today.        I.

           Political Skills We will reflect upon their politicalcharacteristics which made them the most influential foreign ministers in the Gulf andMiddle East regions. Saud Al-Faisal spokeseveral languages fluently such English and French. He was a soft-spokenperson. He brought a sophistication and charisma to Saudi Arabia foreignpolicy. He was considered as the architect of Saudidiplomacy.

He modernized the ministry of foreign affairs. He was known for his wise approach to diplomaticproblems. Sabah A. Al-Sabah is one of most skilled mediator in the MiddleEast region and around the world. He is known for compassion and his interestfor will being of people of the world.  Heis known for his vision to bring reforms to the Kuwait political structure.

       I.           Impact on Foreign Policy Both have major impact on the foreignaffairs of the Gulf and Middle East regions. After9/11 attack in which most of the hijackers were Saudi national, Saudi Al-Faisalplayed a major key role in repairing the relation with the USA which was badlydamaged by the 9/11 attacks. Saud Al-Faisal helped to rallyefforts for Saudi Arabia to lead an Arab coalition to bomb Yemen’s Shiiterebels who had taken over the capital there.

He was instrumental in buildingthe collation during 1990 Iraqi invasion of neighboring Kuwait which led theexpel for Iraqi from Kuwait. Sabah A. Al-Sabah played a vital role in founding theG.C.C council. He considered to be a global humanitarian leader for the supportof disaster relief, peace efforts and advancing public health.

He is arespected regional and international mediator. He mediated in several conflictsaround the world such as the conflict between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Turkeyand Bulgaria, and for all the Gulf States and Iran. He promoted for aninternational response to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in August 1990.       I.

           ConclusionAt the end, both have left a great legacy for the region in foreign affairs.They have dedicated their life to serve the interest of their countries. They willalways be remembered and admired by Saudis, Kuwaitis and other Arabs. Theyounger generation of Saudis and Kuwaitis will honor them by following some oftheir vision and positive approach in getting things done and by doing so they will keep their legacy alive.
